Morning Antioxidant Boost Smoothie

Smoothies are by far one of my favorite beverages. They are so versatile & can offer lots of health benefits if done correctly. I decided to make a smoothie/drink. I wouldn’t claim this to be a “classical” smoothie because it doesn’t contain tons of ingredients but every ingredient is very beneficial & potent.

You will be very surprised to know the main star of this drink is the turmeric & black pepper. Yes, you read that correctly. Here is the next surprising part, you can barely taste it. After blending all of these ingredients together, I noticed that the strong spice from the turmeric & black pepper combined with sweetness of the banana, compliment each other very well.

As always, I had my husband try it (without telling him what was in it of course) & he made it very clear he enjoyed it. When I told him it had turmeric & black pepper, he said “WHAT? I would have never knew!”

So, why black pepper & turmeric? Turmeric, for years, has been known to be full of antioxidants that helped many conditions including arthritis, digestive issues, respiratory infections, allergies, liver disease, depression, and many others. This “super food” has been helping so many people for ages overcome health issues that left them feeling incapable. Turmeric can’t do it alone though. While the body does absorb the turmeric, it doesn’t absorb as much. This is why black pepper is combined with it. Black pepper increases the absorption rate of turmeric in the body. This is crucial to ensure your body is reaping the most benefits out of this power ingredient.
